George who?

Hey Russian hackers & photo pickers!
I found Mimi again!

See ‘Ya Later, USA!

“Colonel Hughes carried his wife to Philadelphia, where he held a government position under General George Washington. She figured in the best society, proving herself a most accomplished woman. When I left North Carolina in 1835, where I had been her doctor for several years, she was ninety years old and, but…she seemed not to be more than seventy years old. Every one of the four sisters lived to be nearly one hundred years old, and all were wealthy but one. That generation of the Hughes family were numerous, and all were sprightly and intellectual.”

“This son of Nancy Martin Hughes, Arehelaus Hughes, after coming to Tennessee to live, made his home for some time with his mother's brother, General William Martin, of Williamson County, Tenn. General Martin, who was a bachelor, was made very happy by the coming of his nephew. He writes back to Virginia, ‘Archelaus seems a part of myself.’ Later on Archelaus Hughes made his home at Dresden, Tenn.

Here, in 1837, he ran for congress against Davy Crockett, but of course was beaten. He says in a letter written to his Uncle William Martin, dated August 30, 1837: ‘I was badly beaten for congress by young Crockett. No man could have beaten him at this time. I knew it, but as I was first out, I could not back down’."
